Join Project Blue: The Only Intensive Online Program That Trains You to Think Like a Precision Teacher

Precision Teaching is a game-changer for educators and behavior analysts. It empowers you to make data-driven decisions, create highly effective interventions, and see rapid, measurable progress. But mastering this entire system can be challenging without expert guidance.

That's why we created Project Blue. We have guided hundreds of professionals through this journey. With our step-by-step training and personalized coaching, you'll gain the skills and confidence to implement Precision Teaching seamlessly in your practice.

 Who is Project Blue for?

Join the program if you have a big heart, and if you believe in the power of science. We work best with those who share our core values of (1) treating those in our care with respect and dignity, (2) continuously striving to do better, and (3) harnessing precision and data to make an impact.

If you buy in to the value of data-based decision making to improve the lives of your learners, then Project Blue is for you! Throughout your time with us, you will learn the skills you need to make a difference with precision and standardization. Project Blue will help you:

  • Select continuous, dimensional measures of behavior
  • Organize programming into pinpoints and charts
  • Chart, read, and analyze data on the Standard Celeration Chart
  • Make data-based decisions to ensure learner progress
  • Apply Precision Teaching across all aspects of behavior analytic practice
  • Confidently discuss Precision Teaching with colleagues and stakeholders

Project Blue is intensive and challenging. There are no plug-and-play programs or guaranteed results.

Precision Teaching is a fluid, flexible, inductive process of critical thinking and rapid change based on data. That’s why our primary goal is to train you to think like a Precision Teacher -- so you can follow the data to find what works for your unique learners.
We created and sequenced the content and activities in Project Blue specifically to produce the necessary verbal, contingency-shaped, and analytical repertoires needed to confidently implement Precision Teaching.

SCHEDULE A CALL TO SEE IF PROJECT BLUE IS RIGHT FOR YOU!
Hi! I'm Amy.
Amy L Evans, MEd, BCBA, IBA
I've been a Precision Teacher since 2008. After working in private learning centers, public school classrooms, and home-based programs, I shifted my focus to dissemination and training in ~2015. Since then, I've created playbooks, resource guides, professional development courses, and presented workshops and symposia at local, national, and international conferences. I've become a total nerd about all things PT, and the amazing practitioners I've met on this journey have taught me so much about the process of learning and adopting Precision Teaching. Nothing makes me prouder than to see real progress for learners on the SCC. I'm here to be your go-to for any and all questions as you get started.
Hi! I'm Liz.
Liz Lefebre, MA, BCBA, LBA
I've been a Precision Teacher since 2003. I've consulted in a variety of contexts including schools, homes, and other private organizations, where I have developed and successfully implemented training systems. My recent efforts have been guiding the transition from traditional ABA models to Precision Teaching ABA models at large organizations. I am passionate about improving the quality of services for all learners, and I love using analysis to solve problems. I'm here to help you develop your clinical judgment and expertise.

But don't just take our word for it....

I WOULD LOVE TO JOIN!
Who can join

This program was designed for practitioners who want to dedicate their professional development time to learning, practicing, and implementing Precision Teaching in their work with learners.

The content in Project Blue was designed specifically with behavior analysts in mind, so you'll notice a heavy emphasis on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and language instruction typical within the realm of Autism services. You don’t have to be credentialed or working in the field of ABA to join, but we recommend that you come to us with a strong background in behavior analysis or education, a genuine interest in precise measurement systems, and the time and autonomy necessary to implement what you learn in the program in your everyday work with learners.

Structure

Learn at your own pace, then apply what you learned and get feedback and coaching from us.

Project Blue is like taking intensive online coursework, with a hint of practicum-like application. Think of it as a “flipped classroom” remote advisory program.

All of the online courses in Project Blue include:

  • Short instructional videos

  • Demonstration & practice across multiple examples

  • Guided activities to check your own understanding

  • Quizzes and competency checks

  • Downloadable resources

In addition to the online courses, you will have opportunities to extend what you learned and dive deeper with live activities in group sessions. As a member of Project Blue, you'll have full access to any of our Project Blue live webinars, workshops, and office hours. So you'll have many avenues to check in, nerd out, and be cheered on by our welcoming and enthusiastic community.

Not only will you have a community, but you'll have your very own dedicated accountability coach to check in on your progress, run through activities with you as needed, and guide your learning process based on what you most want and need.

If you want to go implement Precision Teaching in your day job, then we'll set up a plan for you to bring your results back for discussion and feedback. While direct clinical consulting is not a part of the program, you will have consistent support in creating charts, understanding your data, and making intervention and system changes.

If you're more focused on developing fluency with your verbal behavior about Precision Teaching and the SCC, we'll walk you through a series of activities to build your fluency (and confidence) in describing charts and their meaning. We'll even help you chart your progress toward these goals -- nothing brings the chart to life like seeing your own learning process displayed on it!

You'll have many avenues to participate, learn, and receive BACB CEUs throughout Project Blue. No matter what, you've got our dedicated support for one full year, and access to course materials for the lifetime of the program.

We designed this program to ensure that you gain critical background knowledge and master the skills necessary to implement Precision Teaching with confidence. After all, we founded Octave to create effective training that produces successful implementation. We intend to live up to that expectation, going well beyond your typical continuing education experience. We’re confident that it will be worth your effort.

⚠️LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE:
Due to our commitment to personalized coaching, we only open enrollment 1-2 times per year. Don't miss this chance to transform your practice!

Time commitment
We recommend that you set aside about 1-2 hours per week for goal-directed engagement with Project Blue.
As with most training programs, the more you put into Project Blue, the more you’ll get out of it. After three years of running this program, we've found that the folks who find success are those who stick with it and build a habit of logging in or showing up at least once per week for 4-6 months.
  Schedule
We host 1-3 live sessions per month at different days/times.
We'll try to give you plenty of time to plan your schedule, but if you miss a live session you can always view the recording!
  What you’ll need

If you’re going to be a Precision Teacher, you’ll absolutely need some Standard Celeration Charts! We will provide a few charts to get you started, but you’ll need to order paper charts or purchase charting software within the first month of the program to continue successfully.

  What you’ll GET

Once you join Project Blue, you’ll have support from experts and like-minded professionals in a safe and encouraging environment.

We are well established as thought leaders in the field of Precision Teaching and are eager to advance the field by sharing what we know.

A Positive, Supportive Community. Professional development is always more fun with a group! You’ll be joining a global community of lifelong learners who share your values and really “get” what you’re up to. Meet other Precision Teachers in all stages of implementation at live sessions and in course discussions throughout the program. See what others are doing and never hurt for insights and inspiration. We hope to foster meaningful connections so that you’ll have people around the world who are rooting for your success!

   The Project Blue Curriculum

There are six essential phases in Project Blue. Octave has carefully sequenced topics and coursework to support your learning and implementation. Here’s a summary of these phases within the Project Blue journey:

Explore Precision Teaching. Explore what’s possible with Precision Teaching (PT). Discover what PT is all about by diving into data based decisions and uncovering the distinctions between what the Standard Celeration Chart can give you versus other graphing options. Learn the critical features of PT and get excited about becoming a Precision Teacher.

Start Charting. The Standard Celeration Chart (SCC) is the primary tool driving the effectiveness of Precision Teaching. Learn the ins and outs of this unique, standardized chart and gain the confidence to start using this tool in your day-to-day. At Octave, we believe that you should start charting before you think you're ready. You'll keep refining your understanding and process as you go, but you have to start somewhere! Get the basics in this phase, so you can take that important leap!

Aims & Mastery Criteria. A student of early Precision Teachers once said, "without aims, you're aimless!" Setting appropriate aims is so important to successful implementation of PT. Take a deep dive into the literature within and outside of PT to better understand how to select aims, how to translate mastery criteria to a PT paradigm, and how to test for critical learning outcomes for your unique learners.

Add Precision with Pinpoints. Pinpointing is the precise naming technology Precision Teachers use to ensure they measure behavior and skills in small, specific, and clear measurable units. Organize your program plans into pinpoints to ensure your charts give you the right kind of data and your interventions target skills in the right ways to make a difference for your learners.

Data Based Decisions. Decision making is a critical component of any measurement system, especially in PT. Collecting data and plotting it on the SCC allows for clear pictures to be seen in data patterns. In this phase, we will teach you how to identify those patterns, determine when changes are needed, and select the appropriate type of change to make.

Expand Your PT Fluency. Increase your skills with respect to describing the SCC, discussing PT with colleagues and stakeholders. Meanwhile, expand your use of the SCC to a new area -- this is where you might dive into procedure modifications in your practice that align more closely with some of the "secret sauce" elements of PT: Fluency-Based Instruction and other free-operant teaching procedures.

FAQS

Absolutely! Octave is a BACB approved ACE Provider, so Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) can accrue CEUs for completing the courses and attending live sessions. Octave is also an IBAO approved CEU provider, so International Behavior Analysts can also collect CEUs. If you participate in Project Blue from start to finish, you’ll finish up with a minimum of 15 CEUs, with over 30 to collect with all the bonuses included.

Yes, we encourage you to do so! While we are very excited to build a community of like-minded professionals through Project Blue, we know how awesome it can be to take on a new challenge with a collaborative colleague. That’s why we offer discounts for buddies or small teams who register together.

We know that Project Blue is a big investment for professionals on a budget, and we intend to make it worth your while. Currently, the bring-a-friend discount is all that we are able to offer. Octave has plans to launch a scholarship program as soon as we’ve met a few financial benchmarks. Please be patient with us, as we are a small company just starting to grow.

We design all of our programs to include a substantial amount of real-life application. Without that, many “aha moments” can be missed. We highly encourage all participants in Project Blue to have at least one “case” to focus on throughout the program. If you don’t currently have any clients/students, or if you are unable to implement changes to data collection, graphing, and other processes at your place of work, then you might reconsider enrolling in Project Blue.

When you join Project Blue, you're in our community for life. You'll have access to the content and materials within Project Blue for the lifetime of the program. As far as personalized attention and free access to live sessions - that component will expire after one year. Options to purchase extended coaching will be available after your first year.

You may have noticed from the description above that Project Blue is much more than a series of symposia or workshops. This program is for those who are serious about learning a set of skills -- and that requires active responding and lots of feedback. Project Blue leverages technology to provide that as much as possible via asynchronous courses, but there are some aspects of this that still require live interactions. For the most complete experience, we recommend interacting with us and attending as many of the live sessions as you can!

At this time, Octave does not offer BACB supervision for our clients. If you’re looking for BACB supervision from a precision teacher, or if you’d like to find a practicum site or job opportunity where you can implement Precision Teaching and Assent-Based Practice, you are welcome to contact us. Tell us a bit about your needs - we may have a referral for you!

Project Blue includes direct coaching to develop your measurement and data analysis skills, so you will have many opportunities to bring your de-identified data to our team and get feedback on your pinpoints, charts, and data-based decisions. However, Octave cannot provide any direct consultation on your clinical cases.

The short answer is yes! Here's the long answer: Project Blue has helped many experienced Precision Teachers continue to grow by diving deeper into the critical aspects of PT that they previously understood only on a surface level. Don't underestimate the power of really mastering the basics! AND, you are welcome to check out additional training opportunities at Octave.

Yes! We offer group discounts and add-on systems support for organizations. Contact us directly with inquiries about group training opportunities with Octave!

SO, WILL YOU BE JOINING US?
This is your chance!
If you've been thinking about adding Precision Teaching to your clinical or educational practice, but it hasn't come together for you because of the lack of clarity and confidence to move forward, then you are precisely the practitioner we had in mind when we created Project Blue!

Here's what will happen. Imagine yourself, six to nine months in the future...

...as a confident decision maker. The powerful combination of precise and sensitive measurement, standardized data display, and consistent data analysis makes it very clear to see the effects of your intervention package on socially significant skills and behaviors. This will make it easier on you to make quick, efficient decisions about what to do next.

And as a result of more efficient decision making, you’ll produce faster behavior change in less time. Consistent dedication to data analysis in your day-to-day can have a massive cumulative effect on your ability to truly deliver meaningful change for your learners and their lives.

People argue about whether Precision Teaching “works”, and whether it’s “worth it.” The answer is yes.

We have helped hundreds of practitioners like you make this shift successfully. And we do mean like you. This is possible and practical for those working with all neurotypes, all skill levels, and all domains.
